![]() Students in the Discovery program complete at least six Advanced Placement courses over the four years to include AP Seminar, AP Research, at least one AP science and math course, and 2 courses of their choosing. Students should have motivation, aptitude, and commitment to academic rigor, particularly in the fields of science and mathematics. The Discovery Program is a rigorous four-year Honors/AP program designed for students interested in the STEM research field. Through an enriched personalized program of interdisciplinary study, students develop a better understanding of their field of study and are better prepared to serve the community. We offer broad exposure to the student's chosen magnet strand through an in-depth study of various topics and engagement in problem-based learning that extends students' understanding of legal, finance and business issues and concepts in the 21st century. The Ridge View Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law is an energetic learning community of highly motivated students committed to achieving the goals of a challenging academic curriculum focused on Business and Law. Both programs aim to engage students in a challenging and competitive educational environment through case-based scenarios focused in science, mathematics, and technology. The Institute for Health Sciences offers two four-year magnet programs: the BioHealth Sciences Magnet and the Allied Health Sciences Magnet. The Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical courses promote collaboration, critical thinking, innovation, and communication. Students explore a range of careers in biomedical sciences as they learn content participating in hands-on activities and projects. Students investigate, document, and analyze evidence to solve real-world problems. The AiMS school-wide magnet connects Ridge View’s small learning communities allowing all students to find their pathways to purpose. The Ridge View High School Arts Innovation for Medical Sciences Magnet (AiMS) Ridge View is re-imagining education for a changing world through our AiMS STEAMM magnet Arts Innovation for Medical Sciences. *Students selected for Horizon Magnet complete all MYP and IBDP requirements. The program promotes collaborative learning and leadership building within a broad and balanced international curriculum. The Horizon magnet programis a rigorous, four-year course of study (grades 9-12) for the most academically talented and motivated students who strive for academic success with a global perspective. Kennedy Center Creative Ticket award for outstanding achievement in arts education. The innovative and comprehensive curriculum provides students a strong foundation to enter top-level colleges, universities or conservatories. Palmetto Center for the Arts (PCA): The district's Fine Arts magnet, PCA includes dance, music, theater, and visual arts. Students produce nationally recognized print, broadcast, and digital media. There are currently only 19 National Demonstration Schools in the county. Here is a guideline to each emblem: These magnets are identified as National Demonstration Schools or Nationally Certified Magnet Schools. These programs have been recognized by Magnet Schools of America. You may see emblems beside some magnet programs and/or centers name. Using the online Choice Application, parents may apply each January and May for placement that will take effect the following school year.
